In this compact workshop "Building with mycelium", we discovered the fascinating world of fungi and their invisible network, the mycelium, as a living building material. Using visual samples and examples, participants learned how mycelium grows, what special properties it has as a renewable bio material and how it is already being used in design, architecture and sustainable construction. We then created small shapes from recycled materials, which were filled with mycelium spawn for take away home. This sparked discussions and ideas about how fungi could be used to develop new, ecological construction methods in the future.
